BIGGEST ORANGE FESTIVAL YET!

The town of Bingara just celebrated its biggest Orange Festival yet!
The festival kicked off in early July with the Orange Picking ceremony, a popular tradition that goes back to the 1960s, honouring those who served in World War I and II, as well as other more recent combat missions.
The event began with a service and was followed by the muchloved ritual of children picking oranges along Finch Street. The orange trees serve as a‘ living memorial’ to the fallen soldiers of the Bingara area.
“ It is important to take a moment to pause and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, allowing us to enjoy today’ s freedoms and the beautiful town we call home,” Cr Scot Crispin, chair of the Bingara Special Events Committee, said.
The following day, about 3000 people flocked to Bingara for the Orange Festival. Attendees enjoyed music performed by local talent, including the Bingara Choir and even the local preschool.
This year’ s Orange Festival parade was the largest in many years. It included about 100 vintage cars and 15 local float entries.
