RV FEATURE
A couple of years ago, we noticed the fridge in our caravan wasn’ t working consistently. Our caravan’ s fridge runs 24 / 7, as the batteries that power it are charged by the van’ s solar system. It gets used as a second fridge when we have houseguests or family staying over. It’ s very handy having the van parked beside the house.
But it was puzzling to note the variation in temperature for both the fridge and freezer sections, sometimes freezing everything solid, then sometimes melting. We reset the fridge and all seemed to be well. However, on checking, the temperature was not low enough, so we had the professionals take a look. All seemed to be right again, so off we went to Queensland, where we discovered we still had a problem.
Several repair trips and replacement parts later, and quite a bit of money and inconvenience, and the fridge was declared dead. Then the search began to find a replacement that was of similar size so that the existing cabinetry didn’ t require major alterations.
