FREEDOM CAMP OF THE MONTH
LOOK AT THIS GORGEOUS FREE CAMP!

A favourite Victorian route is between Orbost and Marlo, following the Snowy River in East Gippsland. Along Marlo Road, there are six Snowy River rest areas.
They ' re all very small and close to the road, but the views are amazing. Imagine waking up to the famed Snowy River. Note that some sites are only suitable for one van and that access may be tricky.
On the other side of the road is farmland. You can also travel into Orbost and the west side of the river, where you ' ll find a lot more little free camps just like this along Lochend Road, but without the busy traffic.
However, you must be selfcontained because there are no facilities here at all. Pack your fishing rods. There ' s mobile reception as well and you can stay for 48 hours. Pet owners will be happy – dogs and cats are allowed.
Starting at Mount Kosciuszko in New South Wales, flowing through Victoria, it ' s at Marlo where the Snowy River meets the sea. This epic watercourse was made famous by Banjo Paterson ' s poem The Man from Snowy River.
Marlo was a favourite stop of ours on a previous trip with the kids. We stopped at Marlo Hotel and played pool looking out over Bass Strait and the river.
