JAYCO FACTORY TOUR!

WARRANTY CLAIMS DOWN
During the tour, Jayco’ s manufacturing manager, Chris Ryan, spoke about how changes to the company’ s manufacturing processes had seen significant quality improvements.
Moving to a one-piece front, roof and rear section a few years ago – a fabrication process members of the media were able to witness first-hand, including yours truly – was but one piece of the puzzle when it came to quality improvements about water ingress, Chris Ryan said.
Jayco has also implemented water-testing protocols using its own on-site testing facilities.
But according to Ryan, the most impressive improvements occurred about a year ago when the company implemented in-house airpressure-testing of each caravan that rolls off the assembly line.
Jayco builds about 172 vans a week, or 9000 per year. While repair items per production line have been reduced by about 50 per cent per Jayco’ s efforts to apply downward pressure to warranty claims, the company has improved quality through the water testing.
