Not far from here, you’ ll also find Darling Downs Zoo, which makes this an easy add-on if you’ re travelling with family. We often stop for an ice block at Ma Ma Creek store.
They say the journey is the adventure. When you ' re driving through the cuttings here, you really get a sense of how much work it took to carve out the roads and the towns. Plus, it is just a pretty drive that crosses the creek several times; however, it is very narrow and windy. If you ' re camping in Toowoomba, Clifton, Allora or Gatton, you can actually just do a beautiful round trip with the vehicle.
If you are travelling north, or heading home to Brisbane from the southern states, I would add it to your list!
HEIFER CREEK, QLD
Find this site 41km south-west of Gatton or 25km north-east of the New England Highway on the Gatton Clifton Road. You will see it clearly marked in the Camps app. As always, leave no trace.
