ALISON’ S FIRST FAREWELL TOUR
Narrabeen was our next big stop. We set-up in the BIG4 Sydney Lakeside Holiday Park. We don’ t really like being in big cities in our caravan, but while this park may be close to Sydney, it has a country feel. It’ s got a lakeside view on one side and it’ s over the road from the ocean and rock pools.
But, it’ s very special for me because it’ s so close to Mona Vale. I used to go there sometimes as a kid for school holidays to see my great aunt and uncle. Sadly, after driving all around I couldn’ t see anything I recognised from those days.
An important question: Where did Captain Cook first set foot on Australian soil? Well, according to the signs in the Kamay Botany Bay National Park in Cronulla, it was right there. We went for a walk along the water’ s edge and found the spot. There’ s a big marker on the grass, and a smaller one on a rocky area.

Oh, you beautiful cows...
Berry, NSW, is just beautiful. I really loved this place. The showgrounds are walking distance from the township. It’ s so easy to be there: a decorated footpath, a family of ducks, plus some delicious ice cream. Yes, we love our ice cream.
Sometimes even the best of plans don’ t work out. We were hoping to stay at Mystery Bay Campground but the sites where we could charge our solar and connect our Starlink were all taken. So we went back to Narooma and set up for a night in the Discovery Park there.
We had become so used to the hot weather that the next morning threw us. It was wet and very windy. Not the right weather for towing. Luckily, the park could extend our stay for another night and we had a quick trip into Nowra.
The one extra thing that we had done was go to the theatre about four nights a week. How? Peter had signed us up to a streaming site, which gives us direct access to filmed stage plays. It’ s great entertainment. Next: on to Victoria.
