9. WATER WISE
There are different thoughts on water. Some people travel with empty tanks because of weight, and find water as they go. Some fill their tanks at home, then top up where they know the water is good. You will make that decision – either works – but we prefer to fill at home so we know that wherever we pull up, we are not going to pick up a bug or have to search for potable water.

10. LOCAL KNOWLEDGE
Once you are settled for a while in one place, make sure you explore it well. Go to the local tourist information centre as they know the experiences and attractions better than anyone. While you are out and about, it might pay to remove the towbar attachment from the hitch receiver. It might save your shins. Always lock up well and assess whether you can leave out your chairs and other gear. If you arrive somewhere and have a bad feeling, trust your gut and move somewhere you feel safer.
