FREEDOM CAMP OF THE MONTH
We had been told that Glendinning Campground was one of the most popular campsites in Victoria west of the Grampians. We ' re here right now, and we can fully vouch for why it has this label.
The Rocklands Reservoir is massive. In fact, it is the secondlargest inland lake in Victoria. Fishers love it. Apparently, redfin, brown trout and yabbies will be on your menu. It is also very popular with swimmers, water skiers, jet skiers and boaters.
It is pet-friendly and free, so no wonder it is so popular. There ' s just a plethora of waterside sites to choose from, each with their own tracks leading off the main roads here. The roads are all unsealed once you get towards the gate, and it is suitable for twowheel-drive vehicles. However, you would need to be careful in inclement weather.
We had camped on a lot of lakes during this winter trip of ours, and I would have to say that this was the clearest water we had seen yet. If it wasn ' t winter, we ' d be in there in a flash.
This is a truly picturesque part of Victoria, with the Grampians as your backdrop and the trees in the lake. The foreshore is just lovely. It ' s also very close to some of the wine regions of Victoria, and there ' s plenty of other things to do in the lovely country towns surrounding.
Note that there are several different campgrounds in other areas of the lake ' s foreshores, including some caravan parks too.
We are having a fabulous road trip. Make sure you check out our socials so that you can follow us as we travel along!
