The business began with tent and camper trailers, long before MDC expanded into hybrids, pop-tops, touring caravans, full off-road caravans and eventually into the United States.

The Explorer became one of the models that helped establish MDC. Its appeal was straightforward: offroad capability, usable living space, family practicality and a manageable towing footprint at a price that made getting out there achievable.
