RV FEATURE
Like many newcomers, we made our fair share of mistakes. The wrong tow vehicles. Campers and caravans that didn’ t suit our needs. Costly decisions based on bad advice from dealers more interested in selling a product than understanding our lifestyle. And of course, the classic trap of listening to salespeople who didn’ t even own a caravan themselves. Every misstep taught us something, but it was an expensive education.
It wasn’ t until a few years later that I discovered GoRV. What started as casual reading quickly became essential. The magazine became our guidebook, packed with real-world advice, honest reviews, and the kind of practical knowledge you only get from people who genuinely live the RV lifestyle. GoRV helped us make informed decisions, and ultimately led us to the caravan and tow vehicle that finally felt right.
These days, David and his wife, Bess, travel in a Silverline.
The Kimberley Kamper offroad camper trailer was one of David ' s first vans, a journey that eventually led to the Silverline.
Then, by pure chance, I met Max Taylor, one of GoRV’ s principals and its chief editor. That meeting changed everything. Max’ s passion for the industry, his commitment to travellers, and his vision for GoRV were infectious. GoRV gave me a chance to share my experiences, mistakes, and lessons learned and for me it felt like a way to give back to the caravan community.
Becoming a field contributor to GoRV has been a very rewarding exercise. The GoRV team is an extraordinary group: dedicated, knowledgeable, and deeply connected to the Australian RV community. Over the years, they’ ve become the voice of the industry, standing tall through its highs and lows. When the market boomed, GoRV was there to celebrate innovation. When challenges hit, they were the steady bridge between manufacturers, dealers, and travellers.
