FREEDOM CAMP OF THE MONTH
BABINDA ROTARY PARK: EASY TOWN STOP
This rest area sits right beside Babinda Creek at the south end of the street, over the railway line and before the bridge.
It ' s handy to the shops, the pub and the Bruce Highway, so it ' s perfect if you ' re breaking up the drive between Townsville and Cairns. Enjoy a peaceful night ' s sleep in this humble little town.
THE BOULDERS: RAINFOREST CAMPING
This one ' s a beauty. The camp is just a short walk up the road from the famous Babinda Boulders swimming hole.
Sites are limited so get in early. There are cold showers, which you ' ll probably welcome in the tropical heat! Right near camp, you ' ll find a playground, picnic area and toilets. Perfect for a lazy afternoon between swims.

Our CAMPS ambassadors, Dan and Amanda, agreed. They made Babinda Boulders their first stop on a trip exploring the Atherton Tablelands. They had perfect weather and squeezed in plenty of swims.
They loved the safe swimming area, the facilities and the free camp just up the road. As Dan and Amanda said, what more could you ask for?
SWIMMING AT BABINDA BOULDERS
The Boulders is a favourite swimming hole and picnic spot for locals and visitors alike. It ' s managed as a flora and fauna reserve by the Cairns council. It ' s also a place of spiritual significance for Aboriginal people, so please treat it with respect.
The swimming area is a designated swimming spot and is considered croc-safe. Our daughter said the water was lovely and clear, with plenty of room to swim. There ' s a good walk around The Boulders too, and the dangerous sections are all closed off.
