RV FEATURE “THE INVASION OCCURRED WHILE THE VAN'S OWNERS SLEPT INSIDE.” A Melbourne couple have issued a warning to all RVers to check their caravan’s contents insurance policy, following a devastating caravan invasion in early August. About $9000 worth of property was stolen in the invasion, which was made all the more terrifying by the fact it occurred while its owners slept inside. Melbourne residents Adam and Louise Storey had been in Esperance, WA, for a week, and were staying in a caravan park as part of a four-week trip when a thief or thieves entered their van in the very early hours. “We arrived in Esperance after a year of planning,” Louise told GoRV. “While my husband was super excited to drive the Nullarbor, I was super excited about Esperance. “After a week of sightseeing and fitting in as many things as we could, we decided to go to the movies on a Friday night. After an early dinner, we went out and arrived home pretty early and we were in bed by 10.30pm. We locked up and hit the hay. “Around 1.30am, Adam checked the time on his phone and went to the loo. He came back, jumped into bed, and he woke up close to 5am. When he awoke, he reached out to check the time and his phone was not where he left it. He got up and discovered a number of other items missing. He can’t remember if he locked the door when he returned from the toilet or not as he was still half asleep.” The Storeys tow a Jayco Swan with a Mitsubishi Challenger.
