Camping (perhaps a little too close to the water) on Tony's Point Island.
Known as Tony’s Point Island, it caters for tent
campers and offroad (mostly canvas) camper
trailers – caravans are not permitted. A 2km bitumen
road leads over a bridge to a smooth gravel track
that wends lazily through a lakeside paradise. Tall
trees, very little scrub, and plenty of room to spread
out. In fact, Lani’s has few rules when it comes to
making use of this land. You can find your own spot,
have a fire, and you can take up as much room as
you need. Just don’t camp within 30m of the water,
and you’re set.

What’s more, Lani’s provides drinking water from
two locations on the island, amenities including
flushing toilets and a wash basin, a camp shelter
with a sink, and a private boat ramp. Oh, island
campers are allowed to use the facilities of the main
park, such as the hot showers, as needed. Special
‘glamping’ tents are available on the island, too.
Although they’re not permitted on Tony’s Point
Island, caravanners and motorhomes shouldn’t
despair. The main park offers the comforts of
powered sites with sullage and town water,
swimming pools amongst palm trees, well-kept
amenities blocks, a huge camp kitchen and a
playground that our kids couldn’t get enough of.
