RV FEATURE Maximum Towball Mass is not a rating that is defined in the Technical Requirements; however, it is just the maximum weight imposed by the trailer onto the towing vehicle when the combination vehicle is resting. The maximum towball mass should be noted on the compliance plate of the trailer. You also need to consider the maximum towball mass rating of the tow vehicle itself. Your limit will be the lesser of the two. Most compliance plates will also mention a towball mass when the trailer is empty. This is a cause of confusion as it is not always clear from the compliance plate that this not the maximum towball mass rating. If you have any doubt, consult the manufacturer.
