RV FEATURE THE DIRT ON CAMPERS Mike and Anita Pavey, owners of The Dirt Off Road Campers, SA, are camper trailer enthusiasts from way back. They’ve completed a Big Lap and endless shorter trips around Australia. Needless to say, they’d take a camper trailer over a tent any day. Here are five of there reasons why… Personal hygiene, thanks to a camper trailer’s onboard water tank(s), would arguably be easier to maintain than if camping in a tent, and it’s likely to offer more in terms of bathroom privacy, especially if the camper has a separate canvas room, as many do. SUMMING UP Nothing in life is cut-and-dry, not even camping. As beneficial as a good camper trailer can be, they do have drawbacks that are easily solved by choosing a tent instead. And vice versa. 38 \ • A camper trailer provides home-away-from- home comforts. You sleep off the ground on a comfortable mattress, with ready access to a shower and entertainment. • A camper provides easy access to everything, from cooking equipment to fresh and hot water, a shower, lighting, etc. • A camper trailer provides more security for your belongings, especially with lockable storage bins. • A camper has onboard storage – why not keep it packed, ready for a quick getaway? • There is less packing up than with a big tent setup. The bedding stays on the beds, there is no need to deflate mattresses, etc. And let’s not forget, with your gear packed in the camper, there’s more room in the car.
