RV FEATURE PRICE Assuming you’re buying new, it’s difficult to make an argument one way or another on price alone. A new mid-size 4WD wagon with a decent towing capacity will run you from $50,000 to $60,000, and a similar amount again for an entry-level caravan – depending on your definition of ‘entry level’. Some Jaycos, for example, are cheaper than that. A B class Sprinter-based motorhome, such as the Regal in this issue (see page 18) could cost about $130,000. So what’s your budget? Conceivably, you could spend over $200,000 on your rig – and well over. But $80,000 to $100,000 seems like a ‘reasonable’ minimum. SUMMING UP I know, I know, it all depends on how you travel. For what it’s worth, I don’t think either is better. I prefer caravans, but having travelled in many a motorhome, I have come to appreciate their convenience.
