My van is serviced. And so is my tow
vehicle. Heck, I even went to the effort of
pulling apart my jockey wheel to regrease
the bearing. After months of being shut
indoors, I’m getting ready to enjoy a few
days in my personal slice of heaven – a little
block of coastal land in Victoria’s East
Gippsland region.
It has a 5000L water tank, electricity, a bit of
fencing, a fire pit… and nothing else. And right
now, that’s just the way I like it. In the evening,
a mob of kangaroos bounces past, and if you
listen carefully, you can hear the waves
crashing in the nearby ocean.
To say I’m looking forward to getting back
there would be an understatement.
We all have our favourite spots, the places we
like to get back to as often as possible.
Fortunately for me, mine is only a couple of
hours away. My wife and I are talking more
seriously about doing a big trip, getting back
to the Top End with the kids, and coming back
down through Queensland, but that’s a little
way off.
