TOWING AND TOURING TIPS !

TYRE TREAD
How much tread is remaining on your van and tow vehicle ’ s tyres ? If you ’ re going on a big trip , a minimum of 5mm of tread depth is recommended . During your inspection , check for uneven wear , which on your tow vehicle could indicate that the front wheels need alignment .
While you ’ re at it , check the tread grooves for foreign objects , such as screws or nails embedded in the rubber – these will cause leaks sooner or later .

TOWBAR / TOWBALL TIGHTNESS
The towbar is the vital connection between van and vehicle , and it ’ s amazing how we rarely think about checking the security of its connections .
All towbars should be checked 1000km after first being fitted ( and used ), but it wouldn ’ t hurt to give the towbar bolts a once-over every 12 months or so . Check with the manufacturer for torque specs . The towball should be checked for tightness , too , with the washer sitting flat between the nut and towbar .
