It was great to attend the Victorian Caravan , Camping & Touring Supershow in mid-May . It was the first time Victoria had held an RV show since the last Supershow in 2020 on account of a certain virus .

All manner of RVs were on display and as I explored , it became obvious – if it wasn ’ t already – that RVing truly is Australia ’ s favourite pastime . As the country continues to recover from the pandemic , the RV industry has boomed . It ’ s as though the public collectively said “ to heck with it , I ’ m hitting the road ”. And who could blame anyone for feeling that way ?

With the manufacturing industry thriving , we felt it appropriate to give you an insight into how caravans are built . Marty Ledwich , who is in the process of having a new Roadstar caravan built , visited the Roadstar factory for the lowdown .

Of course , different manufacturers may employ different techniques and practices ; however , we hope this gives you plenty of food for thought .

Meanwhile , we ’ ve reviewed three different vans for this issue : the compact Crusader Hurricane , the equally compact FreedomPlus by Centaur Caravans , and the Gator X , the most popular van in the JB Caravans line-up .
