Caravanning Queensland is anticipating a bumper northern touring season .

“ There will be hundreds of new caravan and motorhomes hitting the road for the first time over the summer holiday period with many first-time ‘ cara-fans ’ excited to test out their recent purchases ,” the organisation ’ s CEO , Jason Plant , said .

“ We saw an unprecedented growth in caravan sales over the past 12-24 months , with an 82 per cent increase in new recreational vehicles registered in Queensland , compared to the year before .”

Mr Plant is urging all RVers to pay particular attention to trip preparation and to observe safe vanning practices .

“ Understanding caravanning and road safety has always been important . With the increase in new product and users on the road , it ’ s especially important that travellers understand the dos and don ’ ts and prepare well in advance to ensure a safe and enjoyable holiday and to help create safer roads for all Queenslanders .”

Mr Plant offered the following advice to anyone unable to secure a site in one of Queensland ’ s many holiday parks : “ If you have your heart set on a particular park or destination , continue to check in as there are often cancellations – especially in this current climate of border uncertainty .

“ And if all else fails , consider getting back to nature and visiting one of Queensland ’ s incredible national parks . You can choose from up to 490 camping areas in Queensland ’ s parks and forests . But you will need to book ( and pay for ) your permit online in order to secure your spot – so get in quick .”
