| RV MAIL LETTERS FROM THE ROAD KIDS IN PARKS I read an article about travelling with your furry friend (GoRV.com.au). The majority of people who take their pet with them (especially us grey nomads who have raised our human children and are now empty nesters) are responsible owners who respect the rights of others.  As for disturbing the ambience and peace and quiet of a park, I would like to suggest that some parents (not all, but a few) need to put their children on leads. I have been run in to by children on bikes, the side of our caravan and car has received a well placed ball on occasion and not an eyebrow is raised. No, I am not a cranky old person, just trying to be fair to all. Terri Birni Via email Thanks for your letter, Terri. As the father of three, I can sympathise with your point of view. Let’s face it: kids can be a handful at the best of times. Include the excitement of a caravanning trip and (some) kids will get carried 4 gorv.com.au away. I don’t think there’s an easy answer, other than parental vigilance and some understanding all-round. – Ed ALLERGY CONCERN Your article about dogs now being allowed to come to the (Border) caravan show had me up in arms. I am allergic to dog fur and now I wonder if this dog- friendly policy will be rolled out to all the other shows. I don’t attend the Border caravan show but I go to the Melbourne show every year. I love browsing through all the new caravans and motorhomes but I am concerned about how the presence of dogs at the show will affect my allergies if they decide to allow dogs at this particular show. Cris Bailey Via email POOCH AT THE SHOW The article in the latest issue (GoRV #5) about how dogs are now allowed at the Border caravan show came as good news. It is about time they let us bring our dogs. They are part of the CIAV CEO Rob Lucas. family and my dogs always come with us when we go caravanning. I am sure that some people won’t like the idea of dogs being at caravan shows but I, for one, think that as long as the dog is properly restrained on a lead, has access to water, etc., then there’s no reason to be upset.
