MY FAVOURITE FALAFEL

IN THE MOOD FOR SOMETHING FROM THE MIDDLE EAST ? JOE HAS YOU COVERED WITH HIS INCREDIBLE FALAFEL RECIPE .

INGREDIENTS
• 2 cups of chickpeas , soaked then dried
• ½ tsp of baking soda
• 1 handful of fresh parsley leaves , no stems
• 1 handful of fresh coriander leaves , stems removed
• 1 onion , roughly chopped
• 6-7 garlic cloves , peeled
• Salt to taste
• 1 tsp of ground black pepper
• 1 tbsp of ground cumin
• 1 tbsp of ground coriander
• Chickpea flour
• 1 tsp of baking powder
• 2 tbsp of toasted sesame seeds
• Oil for frying
METHOD
1 . Chop the onion and garlic , and add them to a mixing jug or a food processor .
2 . Add the rest of the ingredients , except for the oil and the sesame seeds .
3 . Process all ingredients using a stick blender or food processor .
4 . Add the chickpea flour , one spoon at a time , until the ingredients reach a dry consistency .
5 . Scoop out with a spoon and mould into a ball , flatten slightly .
6 . Add a generous amount of oil to the frying pan . The oil should just about cover the falafel in the frying pan .
7 . Add the falafels to the hot oil and fry in small batches .
8 . Remove the falafels from the hot oil when they form a dark brown exterior .
9 . Serve with salad , pita bread , and tzatziki or hummus dip .
