RVSA DELAYED

The implementation of the Road Vehicle Standards Act ( RVSA ) has been delayed .
The RVSA , which will replace the Motor Vehicle Standards Act , has faced numerous delays on its way to implementation .
It was originally scheduled to be implemented on December 10 2019 before being delayed until July 2021 . Implementation was then postponed until 2022 . However , in late March , the Road Vehicle Standards ( consequential and transitional provisions ) Amendment Bill 2022 was passed in Parliament with a new commencement date , which is expected to be July 1 2023 .
The RV manufacturing industry and various associations have described the RVSA as the single biggest change to the regulatory framework governing the manufacturing and importation of vehicles – including towable vehicles – ever . It requires manufacturers to provide proof of compliance for every product built and , among other key benefits , stamps out the practice of ‘ selfcertification ’, in which manufacturers could declare their products compliant with the Australian Design Rules .
