When it ’ s time to entertain the kids , or the young at heart , there are peddle-powered go karts on offer , and the games room is among the best I ’ ve seen . Complete with a pool table , arcade games and more , it ’ s hard to imagine the kids being bored . Oh , there ’ s a playground and a jumping pillow as well .
Aside from the many excellent facilities on offer at Wye River Holiday Park , its namesake river , which winds its way through the grounds and out towards the ocean , is the icing on the cake .
Wandering around the park , you ’ re likely to spot a koala or two high up in the eucalyptus trees , a kookaburra fluttering about or cackling on a fence post , and of course , there are plenty of kangaroos to spot .
APOSTLES AND A GORGE
If you ’ re feeling hungry and don ’ t want to cook , there are two places to eat : the Wye General Cafe , Bakery & Restaurant , which is located near the entrance to the park , and the Wye Beach Hotel . This hotel is within easy walking distance , up a slight hill , but it offers breathtaking views of the ocean .
Those are the only nearby facilities , so be sure to bring anything and everything else that you think you might need .
Access to the beach is easy . It is directly opposite the park ’ s entrance , across the Great Ocean Road . Unwind , play in the sun , splash in the water … it ’ s heaven on a very big stick .
Stopping to marvel at the Twelve Apostles is a must .
