FREEDOM CAMP OF THE MONTH
Swan Reach is a lovely little town . There is a caravan park close to the ferry , a vintage car museum ( open by appointment ), a craft shop , a cracking op shop , and we had to stop into the hotel . Perched on the hill , it had great views of Tenbury Hunter Reserve . Make sure you check out the historical photos on the wall .
This Murray River camp has spectacular cliff views and there ’ s even a free ferry . This 24-hour service , provided by the South Australian Government , takes you across the river to town , below Murray River Lock 1 .
As one of the reviews on the Camps Australia Wide app says , “ No fees and a proper toilet .” What more could you wish for ?
There is a five-night limit and you are advised to get in early – it is popular !
All you need to do is hop back on the ferry to town – there is also a cafe , general store ( look for the flood markings ) and a bakery – you will find some free wi-fi locations , too .
While there , visit the impressive Big Bend Cliffs , the tallest on the Murray , local caves and Ngaut Ngaut Conservation Park . Book a tour – it is fantastic . It is no wonder this site has the Camps Australia Wide tick of approval !
