Week six of our two-month tour of Tasmania and we are continuing our road trip along the spectacular east coast , travelling from Bicheno to the iconic Bay of Fires . With its beautiful bayside villages , endless white sand beaches , crystal-clear waters , spectacular green countryside , sensational free camps and trademark orange granite boulders , the north-east coast immerses travellers in a rainbow of natural wonders and will leave you wanting to explore more .
BICHENO
This scenic seaside village is located just north of the Freycinet Peninsula and is home to some of the east coast ' s most beautiful surf beaches . Bicheno makes a great base to explore the natural wonders further afield , including the nearby Douglas Aspley and Freycinet national parks . It is renowned for some of Australia ' s best dive sites located just offshore at the Governor Island Marine Reserve .
ST HELENS
The largest town on Tasmania ' s north-east coast , St Helens overlooks beautiful Georges Bay and is known for its catches of deep sea fish and rock lobster . Its waters abound with gamefish , making it known as the gamefishing capital of the island , and it is also a popular location for recreational fishing .
