There will come a day when your caravan will blow a tyre and ruin your day . That ’ s when the quality of your jack makes all the difference . It will either delay you for hours , or get you back on the road in a matter of minutes .
Unfortunately , my experience with the scissor jack that came with my caravan was a total disaster . Our trip to Bright , in the foothills of the Victorian High Country , was well on track when we decided to turn off the main highway to do some exploring .
Our tandem-axle caravan blew a front passenger tyre . Normally , this would be a non-event … but our caravan ’ s scissor jack decided it was not up to the job of lifting our caravan .
Without going into great detail , the main thread on the scissor jack failed . Fortunately , we were able to stop a passing farmer , who gave us a hand , and we were soon on our way to Bright Caravan Park . Our scissor jack was replaced under warranty with no questions asked ; however , I decided to find a more suitable jack that would not fail and make life a lot easier and safer when changing a tyre .
After extensive research , it was evident that the jack of choice was the hydraulic Kojack by PurpleLine . Its versatility and capability was best in class and , most importantly , it was safe to use . We have used our Kojack in many situations , including recovering our LandCruiser from a bog , and we have helped other caravaners change their tyres .
The Kojack is a very easy way to lift your caravan to change your wheel . It ’ s very compact , simple to use and safe . It is unlikely to fail you and ruin your day in paradise .
