THE WALLABY TRACK WITH LIONEL MUSSELL

OUTING AT BEECHWORTH

LIONEL ’ S MOTORHOME GETS A NEW STARTER MOTOR JUST BEFORE A MID-WEEK MUSTER .

Yemmy had been hard to start lately and before heading off to our Beachworth muster I had taken him to the doctor – yes , believe it or not my friendly autoelectrician is called Dr DC . Yemmy had a worn starter motor and a new one has made all the difference and he starts every time I turn the key .
This was a mid-week muster and on the Tuesday we headed for Wodonga and the museum that shows the place where migrants lived after World War II . Most of the area is no longer there but enough has been retained to show the conditions as they had been when thousands of refugees were living in the camp . At that time there were only 1000 people living in Wodonga !
After lunch we moved to a nearby army museum , which showed us the huge tanks and artillery that were used in WWII and later conflicts .
Next day was a visit to the High Country , starting with a look around Myrtleford and a coffee stop .
We visited Mt Buffalo Chalet – a beautiful building that has been unused for many years – and took in the beautiful views .
After a look at Mt Buffalo , it was back down the mountain to the caravan park for the evening .
Most members were staying on until Friday but after a barbecue breakfast with the gang , I packed up and headed home .
The weather deteriorated and , towards the end of the trip , poor Yemmy had to cope with very strong wind gusts and pouring rain .
Next month I will be heading for a 15-day trip to New Zealand ' s South Island . Should be lots to write about !
