Have you visited the amazing West MacDonnell Ranges , west of Alice Springs ? This Northern Territory route is so special , but isn ' t it good to know there is a free-camp along this road ?
Bring your walking shoes ! You can check out Ormiston Gorge , Glen Helen , the Ochre Pits and Ellery Creek Big Hole . You ’ ll need your shoes for more than just the walks , though – there are biting ants around this site !
This is an overnight rest area . Bring your own firewood and drinking water , please . All you will find are picnic tables and a barbecue . Reception is patchy but the views are not ! One reviewer on our app said , “ Nice sunset on the top of the mountain .” You can look out to the iconic West MacDonnell Ranges and Mt Sonder . And make sure you read who it was named for on the plaque .
