FREEDOM CAMP OF THE MONTH
CHECK OUT THE ARTICLE AND VIDEO

Take the road less travelled to the red soil of the Pilbara , WA . Destination : Kalgan Creek . Creek crossings are a way of life in many remote regions of Australia , and this pet-friendly 4WD site is one of them .
One water crossing was so narrow that our Camps Australia Wide ambassadors chose not to tow their van through it . This site is therefore only recommended for travellers with offroad motorhomes , camper trailers and tents .
Indeed , you can look forward to six ( yes , six !) creek crossings . The creek is the track for two of these , and they can be up to 600m long ! The video in these pages shows some of the water crossings you ’ ll have to negotiate when heading towards Kalgan Creek .
There are absolutely no facilities at this remote bush camp . Camping is free but a permit is required from the Newman Visitor Centre . This will give access to the BHP rail line , where the track begins ( a gold coin donation applies ).
We ' d like to give a big thanks to Camps Australia Wide ambassadors Dale and Tracey from Adams Family Travels for these images and updating us on the state of the campsite as well as accessing it .
