FREEDOM CAMP OF THE MONTH
FREE-CAMP WITH PENGUINS !

Burnie City Council offers a free two-night stopover right on the Bass Strait .
We thought this was a top spot , and so did Camps Australia Wide travellers . One of the reviews on our app puts it this way : “( The ) only sounds are the waves and the penguins . Beautiful spot .”
It is for self-contained vehicles only , and you must contain all of your waste water , including your dishwashing water . The dump point is the only facility you will find here .
As it is a reserve and a protected penguin colony , please note that no pets are permitted at this site . Two permits to camp here are allowed per vehicle each year . Please , if you are camping here , leave no trace so that the council can continue to provide this campground for others .
Burnie is just one stop on this spectacular coastline . We loved our roadtrip , which took us all the way to Stanley and beyond . In fact , you can see the 180m-high plateau Table Cape at Wynyard from Cooee Point Reserve .
