THE FRONT BOOT
The CPX range is the latest venture by Goldstream , and represents the first time this caravan manufacturer has built with fibreglass sandwich panels . The result is a strong , wellrounded caravan that still looks like a Goldstream . And judging by the looks on Jess and Allan ’ s faces during handover , they were beyond thrilled with their new van .
Their first port of call : Western Australia .
“ And we absolutely cannot wait to get there ,” Allan said . “ This van is going to open up a whole new world for us .”
Asked what they were looking forward to most about their new van , Jess immediately said , with a laugh , “ Having a toilet and shower !”
For Allan , the battery system in their new CPX was set to be a game-changer for how they travel . Their previous van had a 100Ah AGM battery … and that was it . State of the art technology for its time , perhaps , but things have come a long way . Their new van is complete with a 600Ah lithium battery system , a 160A charging system , and 440W worth of roofmounted solar .
Two 95L fresh water tanks and a grey water tank complete the offgrid picture of their new CPX .
“ It ’ s unreal – we ’ re not going to know ourselves ,” Allan said during handover .
Asked why the pair returned to Goldstream for their new van , they quickly said their experience with their older van , the 2006 Goldstream , it was a no-brainer .
“ They ’ re Australian made , Australian owned , and pure quality ,” Allan said .
Their new van weighs a very reasonable 2385kg Tare , with an unladen ball weight of 206kg and a payload capacity of 575kg – all well within range of their Isuzu D- MAX tow vehicle .
Wherever their travels take them , we wish Allan and Jess all the best !
