Ruth McMahon, the“ crazy lady with the purple hair” as she jokingly referred to herself during her speech, is one of the driving forces behind the event. Side note: Ruth and her husband, Brendan, are both very loyal to the Hilltop brand, so much so that when it was time to sell their Hilltop Hotham, they set a small design challenge for Dam and Dula, becoming the first owners of a new Hilltop model, the Snowy Mountain, in the process.
With the Hilltopians spread out on the lawn for the official proceedings, sipping on beverages and eating their nibblies, Ruth remarked on the success of the Hilltop National Gathering, in particular the extent to which the event had grown.
“ This is now our seventh national gathering,” Ruth said.“ We started in 2019 hoping to get 10 caravans but ended up with 21. Now, we’ ve grown from 21 to 178 this year!”
Hilltopians came from across Australia to share in the camaraderie, a number of them new to the lifestyle.“ We welcome all our newbies – he have so many newbies!” Ruth said, clearly delighted that so many others share the affection she and her husband, Brendan, have for this caravan manufacturer.
