RV FEATURE
Australia is the ultimate‘ playground’ for adventurers. Whether you’ re setting off in your RV for a relaxing road trip, camping beneath a star-speckled sky, or exploring regional gems, the thrill of travel is unbeatable.
But alongside the beauty lies a stark reality. When emergencies happen, help is rarely nearby.
We all understand the importance of carrying a well-stocked first aid kit, as well as a means of communication in order to summon the cavalry in an emergency. But there’ s a piece of safety equipment that many overlook: an automated external defibrillator( AED). This lightweight, portable device could quite literally save a life – even yours.
The LifePak CR2.
The HeartSine Samaritan AED.
WHY YOU SHOULD CARRY AN AED
Sudden cardiac arrest( SCA) occurs when the heart suddenly stops beating. There are usually no warning signs or symptoms. It can strike anyone, anywhere, even in the tranquillity of your favourite campsite.
Without immediate intervention, survival chances drop by about 10 per cent every minute.
In cities, emergency services are, on average, 11 to 14 minutes away. But on the road or in more remote areas, it’ s a different story. Help can stretch to beyond 25 minutes to arrive.
