TRAVELS WITH KINGDEANO ADVENTURES
Back in town, we pulled over when we spotted some towering wooden sculptures in front of a local art studio. This was Ant’ s Redgum Wood Sculpture & Art Gallery, a rustic gallery full of personality and passion. Admission was by donation, and inside, we found dozens of jawdropping sculptures, all handcarved by Ant himself. His story was both moving and inspiring. He greeted us with a smile and proudly showed us his works, including a massive wooden shark that was nothing short of spectacular.
Curious to find out more about Millicent’ s story, we stopped by the local visitor information centre. To our surprise, it housed a fullblown history museum, and to our delight, they welcomed Twyla inside too! What we thought would be a quick browse turned into a full afternoon of discovery.
Room after room was packed with displays, from historic coaches and vintage trains to old photographs and town memorabilia. Every corner of the museum had something fascinating, and just when we thought we’ d seen it all, there was another space full of exhibits.
Like many of our town journeys, we also explored the main street, enjoyed a meal at a café, and did some shopping at the town supermarket.
While Millicent offered plenty to see and do on its own, its location made it an excellent base for exploring the surrounding region. Millicent may be small, but it proved to be one of those places that slowly worked its way into our hearts. With its friendly locals, scenic spots, rich history, and unexpected art, it’ s a true hidden gem on the Limestone Coast, and well worth the visit.
