Here are my top 10 insights from our caravanning journey across Australia. Whether you’ re just starting or already living the van life, I hope these reflections inspire you to hit the road and write your own story.
1 THE
OUTBACK
If you haven’ t been to the outback, you haven’ t been anywhere …
I was fortunate enough to travel overseas more than 50 times during my corporate career, visiting the USA, Asia, and Europe. But nothing compares to the Australian outback.
Places like Birdsville or the Red Centre offer a unique, almost spiritual experience. The desert nights under a sky overflowing with stars evoke a sense of awe and humility you won’ t find anywhere else. The silence, the red dust, and the feeling of isolation … it’ s raw, real, and unforgettable.

PEOPLE MAKE THE JOURNEY RICHER
One of the greatest joys of life on the road is the people you meet along the way. Caravan parks and campsites are filled with incredible individuals, retired doctors, engineers, tradies, artists, and everyday Australians who have chosen freedom over the grind.
Conversations around campfires often lead to lasting friendships. It’ s a community of like-minded people living life on their own terms, and that camaraderie is priceless.
