Buying a new van is one of the biggest financial decisions one will make . Next to the house and perhaps the tow vehicle ( although , let ’ s be honest , the van will potentially cost more than the 4WD ), the home on wheels will account for the largest slice of the weekly budget as it ’ s paid off .

So it ’ s important to choose wisely . Do your research . Ask the right questions , from your vehicle ’ s ability to haul it ( and why not ask for the weighbridge ticket , too ?) to whether there are any warranty implications in terms of the terrain on which it is towed .

Call me a fool , but I believe that any van labelled as an ‘ offroader ’ by its manufacturer should be warranted to travel where the 4WD can travel . Many manufacturers agree , and warrant their vans accordingly , while others incorporate careful wording into their marketing literature .
