TRAVELS WITH KINGDEANO ADVENTURES
Before heading off on our travels around South Australia, one question kept coming up from everyone we spoke to:“ Are you going to the Barossa Valley?”
We had never been before, but we were excited to see what all the fuss was about. With our dog, Twyla, in tow and our campervan ready to roll, we recently made our way to the Barossa, eager to explore what it had to offer.
We booked a powered site at the Big 4 Barossa Tourist Park, which turned out to be a great choice. The staff were incredibly friendly and gave us plenty of tips on things to do with a dog. The park had everything we needed, including clean facilities and a large swimming pool.
Each morning, I made the most of the nearby walking tracks. One path took me right into Murray Street, where I found plenty of inviting cafes and restaurants. I stopped at a local bakery for a coffee and something light for breakfast, and later that week, we returned for dinner at a restaurant called The Vines, which had a great atmosphere.
On our first day, we visited Maggie Beer’ s Farm Shop, which quickly became one of the highlights of this trip. We sat outside by the lake with Twyla and enjoyed a delicious cheese platter, along with tastings of their non-alcoholic red and white wines- alcoholic beverages are available too. As we had Twyla, we took turns checking out the farm shop, picking up a few gifts, then wandering through the grounds, admiring the fruit trees, spotting pheasants, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
