RV FEATURE
One hundred issues of GoRV! In that time, we’ ve shared more than a few tips to make your life on the road just that little bit easier. I have long felt that caravanners in Australia are a community, and I’ m sure you feel that way too. Sharing ideas among ourselves is just one of the joys of belonging to this community.
I have gone through the GoRV vault in search of my favourite tips – ideas I felt worthy of resurfacing – in hopes they’ ll prove useful. After all, you might not have caught them the first time around, or you might simply have forgotten them. So, if you’ ll indulge me, I’ d like to dust off a few old favourites …
MAINTENANCE AND PREP
Maintenance is critical, both for yourself and your vehicles. Prior to leaving, have your medical checks, from doctor to dentist, and take your prescriptions with you. Don’ t forget to service your van and tow vehicle, either.
Depending on how far you travel each day, check around the combination every time you leave, looking for things that haven’ t been secured, a lower-than-usual tyre profile, and keep an eye on the general upkeep. Don’ t forget to check your hatches and windows are locked. Developing a checklist of all the jobs to do before hitting the road is a great idea, lest you forget to unplug your 15A lead or leave a stabiliser leg down.
