GO WITH YOUR GUT
If you arrive at a site and you don’ t like the look of it or the people already there, trust your gut instinct and move on. That feeling will only help to keep you safe, which is your priority.
KEY SECURITY
Caravanners Lena and Glen Thompson shared this idea when we caught up with them at a Hilltop National Gathering a few years ago. How many times have you either lost your caravan keys or wished you didn’ t have to cart them around with you when you headed out for the day?
Their solution: screwing a key safe with combination lock to the offside battery box. In their case, the placement was so discreet that a passerby would never know it was there. But of course, you could fit the safe anywhere, such as further up underneath the chassis.
MAGNETIC IDEA
Here’ s another good one from Lena and Glen Thompson. Have you ever struggled to keep your van’ s bathroom door from sliding closed when the van is parked on a slight lean? Me too.
Their solution was to place a cheap magnet at the bottom of the bathroom wall so that when the door was closed, the magnet connected with a piece of metal screwed to the edge of the door itself.
This inexpensive solution to a common problem is not only clever, it works brilliantly!
