RV FEATURE
David highly recommends using a DC-DC charger, especially in vehicles that use a smart alternator.
4. WHY ARE MY LIGHTS DIMMING OR MY FRIDGE SWITCHING OFF AT NIGHT?
Voltage drop is likely the culprit. If your wiring is too thin or too long, voltage can drop significantly between the battery and the device, especially under load. Use heavy-duty cabling and keep your wiring runs as short as practical. This is especially important for fridges, inverters, and any highdraw devices.
 TIP:
Don’ t skimp on wire thickness when installing – quality wire and connections are critical.
5. IS A 12V SYSTEM REALLY‘ SAFE’?
While 12V systems are much safer than 240V, they’ re not risk-free. Poor wiring, incorrect fusing, or overloaded circuits can cause overheating and even fires. Always use appropriately rated fuses, quality connectors, and follow proper installation practices, or get a qualified auto electrician to handle the job. Safety should never be a DIY experiment.
 TIP:
Yes, remove jewellery or other conductive objects when installing DC power.
