Twelve-volt systems can be powerful, efficient, and safe – but only if you understand how the components work together. Don’ t be afraid to ask the so-called‘ silly’ questions. The chances are, every caravanner has wondered the same thing. A solid grasp of your 12V setup means more confidence off-grid, fewer headaches on the road, and more time doing what you came for: enjoying the adventure.
Always use appropriately rated fuses, connectors, etc. As David says, safety should never be a DIY experiment.
Petrol and diesel generators still have their place, but the advent of lithium batteries for RVs and the constantly-improving technology supporting them are making such gensets less relevant for travellers.
