It’ s been a busy month here at GoRV HQ! Since we last spoke, I’ ve been at the wheel of a brand new campervan from Snowy River, developed for 2026 on the Ford Transit platform, as well as an Avida Birdsville LX, the upmarket version of the company’ s venerable Birdsville motorhome.

I also darted south to Tassie. I heard that Coastal Caravans in Burnie, in the north-west corner of the state, was throwing a special expo, inviting local businesses to take part in this special weekend for the public. Even the Tasmanian premier, Jeremy Rockliff, was there and was happy to talk to me on camera – check out the video in this issue.

You see, as it turned out, this dealership was known as the caravanning capital of Tasmania, and the people who run it, the Austin family, couldn’ t have been more welcoming or more hospitable. Who would’ ve thought that this unassuming caravan dealership would hold such a special place in the hearts of the Tasmanian RV public?

I could have stayed longer. Tasmania is ridiculously beautiful. It was a reminder, though, of how much the state has to offer. We sometimes get a little hung up on the idea of travelling north – but the south has a beauty all of its own.
