Working with Australis as brand ambassadors has given us the chance to see how different everyone’ s builds are. Some travellers want oversized pantries, others design bunk areas that double as study spots, some build full tech hubs while others need reinforced external storage for specialised gear.
You can usually tell who a caravan belongs to the moment you step inside. Ours includes a deeper sink, hidden sockets, an extended lounge and a tucked-away extractor because they suit how we live. Another owner’ s design might look completely different, and that’ s the value of working with a caravan manufacturer that listens.
When we’ re towing through the South Island, dropping into a valley or following a narrow gravel ridge, we can see how every lesson from Australia and New Zealand ended up in this Australis caravan. Heat, cold, dust, rain, open roads, sharp bends … each played a part in shaping the choices we made.
Australis didn’ t try to give us a show home. They built something that fit the life we actually lead. After years of travel and everything that came with it, stepping inside this van feels like stepping into a space that genuinely works for us.
Jord and Tom are full-time travellers, storytellers and brand ambassadors for Australis Caravans. After several years exploring Australia and now living on the road in New Zealand, their custom Australis High Country Xtreme reflects the lessons gathered from both landscapes. Through Tasman Travels, they document their journeys, practical insights and the realities of life lived entirely on the road.
