POWER PLAY
Power was another big conversation. We carry a lot of gear: cameras, drones, laptops and chargers, and we love our comforts too, such as real coffee, good music and proper movie nights. Australis listened to what we used daily and helped design a system that could handle it.
The final setup included 600Ah of Infinity slimline lithium, 1000W of solar, a 3000W inverter, a 60A DC-DC charger and an 80A solar controller. They also added a 240V outlet inside the pantry so we could build a coffee station. The lighting runs on indirect LED strips with Sphere wireless switches, ventilation comes from a MaxxAir fan, and outside we’ ve got Lumina LED bars.
We added a Polaris integrated reversing camera, a Fusion external soundbar, Signature Series 3i speakers, a 32in Avtex TV, an HTP cabin pressure system, WiTi security with GPS and Cowfish 5G VanConnect with Cosmo Mini for Starlink Mini.
The High Country platform has become Australis’ most popular for good reason. On the road, it feels steady and sure-footed, with enough clearance for rougher tracks without feeling top-heavy. It stays quiet and solid even when the ground gets messy.
This van will remain in New Zealand for now, but we built it with Australia in mind because that’ s where many of our ideas were formed. The blueprint from this build will influence the next one we take back across the Tasman.
