But Lake Argyle is more than just some impressive numbers. It is a truly spectacular place to see. In fact, I rate it up there with some of the most popular tourist attractions in the country. The vast, deep-blue waters are surrounded by towering red cliffs covered with sparse green shrubbery. Every photo is a postcard. You’ ve got to travel a long way to visit the lake, but it is well worth it. The caravan park and campgrounds feature all modern amenities and one of the best swimming pools you’ ll see anywhere in the country.
THE LARGEST RADIO TELESCOPE?
If it were not for the movie The Dish, many Australians would be completely unaware that Australia is home to some of the most advanced and most powerful radio telescopes in the world. And while the main dish at the Parkes Observatory, which the movie featured, is by far the most famous, it’ s not the largest radio telescope in the country. That title goes to the Square Kilometre Array – Low telescope in Murchison, WA.
