TRAVELS WITH KINGDEANO ADVENTURES
As 2025 drew to a close, we found ourselves reminiscing about the incredible journeys we’ ve had exploring new corners of Australia, all with our trusty campervan and our four-legged travel companion, Twyla, by our side. This year was packed with pet-friendly adventures, stunning landscapes, and unforgettable encounters. The following are some of our standout moments that truly defined our year of roaming …
Our first trip of the year took us to Riddells Creek, Vic, where we setup camp on the picturesque Dromkeen Homestead property. The beauty of this Hipcamp spot was that we could choose our own patch of paddock to park the van, surrounded by open fields and uninterrupted sunset views. In the morning, we wandered over to the homestead itself, which housed an art gallery and café. Twyla was warmly welcomed inside, and we savoured freshly baked scones and coffee while admiring the artwork. The town added its own charm with a lively Sunday farmers’ market and a flock of geese that proudly strutted the streets like locals who owned the place.
Millicent, SA, was a stand-out town that perfectly blended smalltown charm with creativity and history. The tranquil Millicent Swimming Lake was a refreshing stop, and Ant’ s Redgum Wood Sculpture & Art Gallery left a lasting impression with its intricate craftsmanship. The Millicent Museum offered a glimpse into the region’ s past, and colourful murals brightened the town’ s walls.
Although the Tantanoola Caves weren’ t pet-friendly, we took turns exploring them – a fascinating quick tour that’ s well worth it for anyone passing through.
South Australia’ s Barossa Valley was another highlight, where wine, food, and pet-friendliness all came together in perfect harmony. At Two Hands Wines, we sampled exceptional vintages and enjoyed a cheese platter overlooking the vineyard, Twyla happily lounging beside us. First Drop Wines also offered a great experience with exceptional hospitality. And of course, we had a memorable lunch at Maggie Beer’ s Farm Shop.
