THE BEAST OF STRATUS

First, Stratus Outdoors. This company manufacturers a large range of camping accessories, from chairs to tables to cookware. This stuff is designed to last a lifetime, unlike the cheap and nasty stuff you can buy from hardware and some outdoor retailers.

Some of the Stratus gear is even the recipient of the coveted Good Design Award. Further, much of the products from this company are completely manufactured from recycled plastic bottles.

While the Stratus stand was visually appealing and inviting, it was the beast pictured that caught my eye and ensured I spent some time on the stand. This Mitsubishi Fuso Canter truck was heavily customised by one of the founders of Stratus – note the dual rooftop tents for family camping and the seemingly endless storage options.

Now, this rig was not for sale – it was there as a visual drawcard – but as the guys at Stratus said( perhaps half-jokingly) when I dropped by, nothing was off the table. If a customer wanted a build such as this, it wouldn’ t be an immediate‘ no’!
