FREEDOM CAMP OF THE MONTH
CROSSING THE DICKABRAM BRIDGE!

Set on the banks of the Mary River, Petrie Park RV Camp, which is just north-west of Tiaro, is a classic quick stop for travellers who like shade, water views and a quiet night close to town.
The setting is the drawcard. Big trees, river access and plenty of shade make it appealing, especially in warmer weather. But the beautiful river is also the reason you need to choose your timing carefully. After rain, the ground can become boggy and space is limited, particularly for larger rigs.
There’ s a steep entry down to the riverbank and only a handful of reasonably level spots. Some areas slope gently, so careful parking is needed. Larger vehicles may find it tight, and if conditions are wet,
you’ re better off choosing one of Tiaro’ s other camping options.
Tiaro sits on the Bruce Highway between Gympie and Maryborough, and it punches well above its weight for a small town. Travellers are well catered for with three 48- hour free camps, all with toilets, and a couple offering showers.
