PETRIE PARK RV CAMP, QLD
You’ ll find this site 2km north west of Tiaro, Qld. Directions are clearly marked in the Camps app: turn west over the railway line about 1km north of the post office, head north for 200m, and then west to the riverbank. As always, leave no trace. Hideaway Station Hotel and Tiaro RV Park( close to another pub!) are both nearby alternatives and are each pet-friendly. You can even pitch a tent at the pub camp.
If the riverbank conditions are good, this spot is ideal for a relaxed stop. Bring your fishing rod, pack your togs in summer, and enjoy the calm Mary River setting. Just be mindful of space and weather before committing.
You can follow the Mary River all the way from the Sunshine Coast hinterland, where the Mary begins, on to Gympie and the impressive Dickabram Bridge, another free camp.
Continue to Maryborough and River Heads, near Hervey Bay, where it meets the Pacific.
